Spatial P systems

Speaker: Giovanni Pardini

Abstract: Spatial P Systems are a variant of P Systems which embodies the concept of space and position inside a membrane. Objects in membranes are associated with positions. Rules specify the objects which are consumed and the ones which are produced. For the objects produced,
their resulting position inside the membrane has to be specified. Objects are divided between "ordinary" objects and "mutually exclusive"
objects. Every position inside a membrane can accommodate an arbitrary number of ordinary objects, but at most one mutually exclusive
object.

In this seminar, the definition of Spatial P System and an example application of the formalism will be presented. In particular, we show a
model of the evolution of a "ring species" (Greenish warbler).
