Multi-compartmental, stochastic and discrete models in systems and synthetic biology

Speaker: Francisco J. Romero-Campero

Abstract: Multi-cellular systems exhibit complex spatio-temporal dynamics at the molecular, cellular and tissue levels of complexity that challenge the use of the established modelling approach based on ordinary and partial differential equations. In this talk we will present a computational framework based on P systems that seeks the development of a synergy between executable biology, multi-compartmental stochastic simulations, formal model analysis and structural/parameter model optimisation for computational systems and synthetic biology.
